Dr. Lai worked at various international organizations such as UNESCAP (2021) and APEC Secretariat (2022), and published various working papers. She can use Chinese, Japanese, and English as working languages. Dr. Lai has interdisciplinary education background with MA in Economics (University of International Business and Economics, 2016) and PhD in International Relations (Victoria University of Wellington, 2022). In her PhD dissertation - Structures and Institutions of East Asian Regionalism, 1980s-2010s, she used global value chain analysis and inter-country input-output tables to investigate the structures of transborder production networks in East Asia and see how these structural forces influence the development of regional institutions in the greater Asia Pacific region. 布结构及其演变趋势,以此解释东亚地区的弱区域主义。
